Purchasing Manager Jobs in New York
A Purchasing Manager in the hospitality industry is responsible for buying products and services which are required for the daily operations of hotels, restaurants, resorts, or other hospitality-related businesses. This role involves sourcing suppliers, negotiating contracts and prices, maintaining relationships with vendors, ensuring the quality of goods, monitoring stock levels, and managing budgets. They are also tasked with keeping up-to-date with market trends and staying informed about the latest products. Additionally, they are required to collaborate with other departments such as operations, finance, and customer service to ensure that all procurement needs are met.
To excel in this role, a Purchasing Manager should possess strong negotiation and communication skills, along with a keen eye for detail. They should also have excellent organizational and planning abilities to manage multiple orders simultaneously. Knowledge of supply chain management and procurement software is also essential. They should ideally be certified as a Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM). Prior to becoming a Purchasing Manager, a person could have roles such as a Purchasing Agent, Procurement Specialist, or a Supply Chain Analyst. These roles provide the necessary experience in sourcing, negotiating, and procuring goods and services.
