Conference Services Manager Jobs in North Carolina
A Conference Services Manager in the hospitality industry is primarily responsible for managing all aspects of a conference or event, including planning, coordination, and execution. They work closely with clients to understand their needs and objectives, and then design and organize the event to meet those goals. This involves tasks such as selecting and booking venues, arranging for necessary equipment and services, coordinating catering and other amenities, and overseeing the event on the day to ensure everything runs smoothly. In addition, they often handle financial aspects such as budgeting and invoicing, and may also be involved in marketing and promotion of the event.
Important skills for a Conference Services Manager include excellent organizational and multitasking abilities, strong communication and negotiation skills, and the ability to solve problems quickly and effectively. Knowledge of event planning software and the Microsoft Office suite is usually required, and a Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) certification is often preferred. Prior to becoming a Conference Services Manager, a person might work in roles such as Event Coordinator, Catering Manager, or Sales Representative in a hotel, convention center, or similar venue. These positions provide valuable experience in event planning, customer service, and sales, which are all key aspects of the Conference Services Manager role.
