Kitchen Manager Jobs in District of Columbia
A Kitchen Manager in the hospitality industry plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the kitchen. They are responsible for overseeing daily back of house restaurant operations, which includes managing the kitchen staff, ensuring food safety and quality, developing menus, coordinating food orders, and maintaining kitchen equipment. It's necessary for a Kitchen Manager to have excellent leadership and management skills, the ability to work under pressure, and good knowledge of food preparation and safety. They should also have a firm grasp of budgeting, inventory management, and scheduling. Certifications in food handling and safety, such as the ServSafe certification, are typically required. A degree in culinary arts, hospitality or a related field would be beneficial. Also, many years of culinary and management experience are usually required.
