Job DetailsLa Josie, a family-owned Bib Gourmand Mexican restaurant on Randolph Row, has been serving family recipes and supporting the best agave distillers from all regions of Mexico since May of 2017. In just a few short years, La Josie has become a beloved destination to eat, drink and socialize in the West Loop. Most importantly, however, La Josie is a family of hard-working, middle class restaurant veterans passionate about treating their guests like family and this establishment like home.
We are excited to offer the opportunity to join our La Josie Family as FOH manager. The ideal candidate will be a motivated, hands-on professional with previous experience as a supervisor, manager, lead server/ bartender and eager to learn more about managing in the restaurant industry. The ideal candidate should be able to comfortably oversee all FOH operations and should actively strive to improve the details. The perfect candidate must be able to work well independently, work well with our team, and above all, be passionate about facilitating unforgettable guest experiences.
Requirements

- Associates degree in hospitality management or equivalent experience
- Ability to manage at multiple tasks
- Bilingual, Spanish
- Familiarity with Mexican cuisine and agave, and/or a willingness to learn more
- Experience in a fast paced upscale restaurant
- Toast POS experience
- Resy or reservation platform experience
Essential duties & Responsibilities
- Maintains a cheerful, courteous disposition and a clean, professional image
- Assists Management with overseeing FOH staff (including staff conflicts, documentation, training, hiring, termination, etc.)
- Responds to guest inquiries and provides assistance
- Helps with duties of other employees when necessary due to unexpected absence, extra volume, or labor cuts
- Oversees organization and efficiency in service in the dining room
- Keeps up with knowledge of food and drink menu items
- Supervises staff in terms of opening procedures, guest service, and closing procedures
- Reports and contacts maintenance contractors
- Enhances and strengthens guest relationships, both established and new
- Delivers excellent guest services, including personally greeting guests, seating them, and touching tables during service
- Resolves guest complaints in a polite, friendly manner and follows up when necessary
- Reports all escalated situations to G.M.
- Promotes cooperative efforts, team spirit, and morale among employees
- Works collaboratively with Ownership, general manager, office manager, head bartender, chefs, and floor supervisors to drive the restaurants success
- Has a strong understanding of company background, core values, and philosophy
- Manage nightly cash handling/service staff close-out procedures
- Reinforce company policies, being the lead manager on disciplinary actions and monitoring staff performance
- A "lead by example" approach to maintaining points of service standards
- Maintain proper department of health conditions in all areas of the restaurant, cultivating good habits among the staff
- Has a strong understanding of the restaurant ambiance and works on curating the vibe with the GM
- Performs daily E.O.D. report detailing all important information
Minimum Qualifications
- 2 yrs as a Lead server
- Servsafe certifications (Food service manager, Basset, Allergens, Sexual harrasement)
- Willingness to maintain a clean, safe, and healthy work environment
- Ability to coordinate multiple activities with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Familiarity with Toast, Slack and 7 Shifts is preferred
Physical Demands and Work Enviorment
- Ability to be flexible and open-minded about job demands
- Ability to move or handle equipment throughout the restaurant (generally between 0-50 lbs.)
- Ability to work varied schedules, as business dictates
- Ability to stand for 8-10 hours a day
