Assistant General Manager | Kingston, NY

We are seeking an experienced Assistant General Manager (AGM) to support operations across two full-service restaurants in Kingston, NY. This is a hands-on restaurant management and floor leadership role overseeing guest experience, front-of-house operations, and team execution across two distinct restaurant concepts. The role works closely with the Owner and General Manager to ensure consistency, service standards, and operational efficiency across both locations.

The Cornell Restaurant + Bar (Waterfront)
Upscale, seasonal American restaurant focused on Hudson Valley sourcing, refined service, and destination dining.

Brickmen Kitchen + Bar (Uptown Kingston)
High-volume, bar-driven neighborhood restaurant with a fast-paced environment, strong repeat business, and approachable menu. Both restaurants are independently operated with different service styles and guest experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily front-of-house (FOH) operations and floor management
  • Lead service execution and ensure consistent guest experience standards
  • Train, coach, and develop FOH staff including servers, bartenders, and support staff
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and staff development
  • Ensure effective communication between FOH and BOH teams during service
  • Assist with scheduling, labor management, and shift organization
  • Help implement and maintain operational systems and procedures
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and service readiness standards

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in restaurant management (AGM, FOH Manager, or Restaurant Manager role)
  • Experience in full-service, high-volume restaurant environments preferred
  • Strong leadership presence on the floor during service
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage teams in both high-energy and refined service environments
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working with service systems, scheduling, or labor management tools a plus
  • Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure
