Assistant General Manager:
We are an upscale-casual restaurant near the Flatiron, led by a James Beard award-winning chef and best-selling cookbook author. We are searching for talented, hardworking, and hospitality-oriented individuals who can help us create a warm and welcoming environment. We want to work with serious people who know how to have fun.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced restaurant professional to join on our team as Assistant General Manager. The ideal candidate possesses strong food and beverage knowledge, can handle POS and Reservation Platform programming, has tremendous service experience, understands the ins and out of restaurant administrative duties, can lead a team, and has the innate ability to get along well and have fun with both teammates and guests. An intimate understanding of bar service, spirits and beer is also required. If you feel like you would be a great fit, we would love to talk with you.

Key Responsibilities:

Along with our Wine Director, put together the seasonal bar menu.
Lead the Bar Team within the parameters set by the General Manager.

Adhere to the hours of work/shift system. Be punctual and arrive to the restaurant at the appropriate time.

Perform duties in the restaurant in compliance with statutory health & safety, and hygiene requirements

Perform all duties relating to the opening and closing of the restaurant, allowing for efficient and proactive service

Ensure that the highest standards of cleanliness are achieved and that furnishings and equipment are maintained, providing a safe, clean and pleasant environment

Have full and complete knowledge of the food and beverage served at Portale Restaurant in order to take ownership of the highest possible display of knowledge in the restaurant.

Have total control of service, knowing the allocation of staff on duty while ensuring that the stations are clean at all times

Use communication skills constantly both with guests and teammates. .

Handle all guest complaints and follow through until full guest satisfaction is achieved.

Be attentive, supportive and consistently positive while at work

Carry out any reasonable requests as directed by your Director of Operations in order to achieve the highest possible standards.

Establish strong working relationship with all departments

Help create a fun and vibrant restaurant space that your teammates and guests will enjoy!

Minimum 2 years of NYC Management Experience in high volume, fine dining restaurants

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Toast, Sevenrooms, and multi-line phone systems
  • Able to stand for a 10-12 hour shifts
  • Available to work late nights, holidays and long days as necessary
  • 3-5 years prior FOH experience in a high volume establishment
  • Experience in various capacities of FOH strongly preferred

Compensation: Salary ($80,000.00 - $85,000.00)
