Manages, organizes, plan and controls department programs through appropriate utilization of resources and delegation of responsibility. Daily oversees and supervises activities to provide a clean, sanitary and safe environment to the UCLA Health Ambulatory Care Services Clinics. Incumbent is responsible for custodial services, grounds and landscape maintenance management via insource or contracted services.

Maintains an efficient operation and adheres to the UCLA Policies and Procedures including regulatory agencies such as TJC, DHS, OSHA, EPA, DOT SS Title 22 and adheres to other regulatory requirements. Operates department effectively and meets budgetary and financial guidelines.

Salary Range: $78,500 - $ 163,600 / annually

Job Qualifications

1. Three to Five years experience managing operations, supervising maintenance personnel in a Healthcare environment.

2. Demonstrate ability to manage and supervise a staff of 40+ housekeeping personnel.

3. Skill in interview, hiring, evaluating and implementing progressive discipline as needed.

4. Knowledge of CDC guidelines, title 22, DHS and TJC regulatory requirements related to Hazard, biohazard and solid waste as well as sanitation requirement for acute care facilities.

5. Skill in reading and interpreting collective bargain agreement, administrative guidelines, general correspondence, job specification and job descriptions.

6. Skill in writing concise, logical and grammatically correct correspondence and analytical reports.

7. Skill in implementing and monitoring a quality control program sufficient to meet established specifications in the performance of maintenance and recharge work.

8. Ability to organize information, material and people in a systematic way in order to optimize efficiency and minimize duplication of effort in the process of completing projects.

9. Excellent communication skills to effectively convey information on a one-on-one basis or in group settings to subordinates; project managers; clinicians; support staff; and administration.

10. Skill in analyzing information, problem situations, practices or procedures to:

Define the problem or objective

Identify relevant concerns or factors

Identify patterns, tendencies and relationships

Formulate logical and objective conclusions

Recognize alternatives and their implications

11. Skill in negotiating, exchanging ideas, information and opinions with others to formulate policies and programs and /or arrive jointly at decisions, conclusions or solutions.

12. Ability to read, interpret and draw conclusion from information generated by computerized reporting systems, to monitor performance and treads and identify anomalies.

13. Ability to supervise all aspects of material handling to enhance cleaning supply management effectiveness and productivity.

14. Skill in mathematical computations sufficient to prepare budget status reports and productivity.

15. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationship with peers, department, hospital and University personnel and the public.

16. Ability to work collaboratively, proactively and cooperatively as a management team member and in support of organizational goals and objectives.

17. Working knowledge of regulatory agency requirement for an acute care hospital.

18. Bachelors Degree or equivalent field experience
