ABOUT THE ROLE
Were opening a new, design-forward restaurant inside the New Museum on the Boweryrooted in sustainability, seasonal cooking, and a vibrant wine program. Were building a dynamic team that cares deeply about craft, hospitality, and collaboration with the museums cultural community. The restaurant provides a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of art and culinary collaborating with artists, creating late night bar menus, and hosting brand events. This will be the first and only restaurant designed by OMA.
WHO YOU ARE:
We are seeking someone who is dedicated to building community through excellent service and hospitality. The role requires a strategic thinker, problem solver, multi-tasker, and an excellent communicator who will uphold Oberon's standards of excellence in all areas including team management, financial accountability, quality of service, and guest relations.
- 5+ years of experience in restaurant management, preferably in Brooklyn or Manhattan
- Interested in natural wine, preferably with strong knowledge of the field
- Approachable and intelligent leader who is able to motivate, manage, and develop a large and diverse team
- Self-starter who is results-oriented and who appreciates and takes initiative on both the essential details and the bigger picture
- Eager collaborator, able to take initiative and receive feedback
- Superb time management skills with the ability to prioritize and organize work assignments, have timely follow up and execution
- Full availability, including nights and weekends
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee and execute management of day-to-day operations of the restaurant
- Manage the FOH team and liaise with BOH team, working floor shifts, creating a positive work environment, driving sales and creating exceptional guest experiences
- Lead hiring, training, coaching, and overall development of team members including orientation, steps of service, wine education and any necessary disciplinary action
- Ensure compliance with department of health standards, maintaining superior cleanliness and sanitation throughout the restaurant.
- Identify potential safety hazards/maintenance issues and initiate corrective action; ensuring the restaurant is safe for both employees and guests.
- In collaboration with management team, oversee and order for an extensive wine list, considered to be on of the best in the natural wine world
- In collaboration with management team, manage and be accountable for restaurant financials, take an active and eager interest in the P&L
- Maintain quality and standards of culture, food, drink, service and atmosphere
- Foster a dynamic, enjoyable and inclusive culture
Compensation: Salary ($115,000.00 - $120,000.00)
