Radius Hospitality’s newest hotel in Somerset! 100 room SpringHill Suites by Marriott in Somerset, NJ.

 

We are searching for a professional, energetic and well-rounded General Manager with experience at an upper scale limited service product; with previous Marriott and/or SpringHill Suites experience preferred!  Our candidate must understand revenue management; have an aptitude for sales, a great grasp of all operations, an eye for detail and a true hospitality spirit to lead by example and provide outstanding customer service.  We are searching for an enthusiastic candidate with a proven track record that will lead a team to become the #1 hotel in the market! 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the hotel team utilizing a hands-on participative style to achieve exceptional operational and service results
  • Effectively communicate with each team member and coordinate the operation of each department.
  • Be involved in all new hires and make sure that proper training takes place for each associate.
  • Actively monitor and assess the hotel's opportunities and strengths in order to best serve the financial interests of the property.
  • Set and monitor ongoing written action plans for each department to maintain high standards of cleanliness, guest service, facilities maintenance, and overall profitability.
  • Monthly forecasting of operating staff labor and property expenditures. Monitor sales pace daily and adjust to changing conditions to keep revenues high and expenses in line.
  • Provide the Accounting office with all necessary information for them to produce a monthly financial statement. Review the financial statement in great detail to assure spending is in line and budget objectives are being met.
  • Review and approve all expenses in all departments.
  • Follow all Marriott SpringHill Suites standards to ensure a consistent guest experience.
  • Conduct performance appraisal and personal development plans for management staff. Identify successes and substandard performance of individual managers and outline improvement action, including taking corrective or disciplinary measures.
  • Review controls and assure adherence at all times in order to protect the hotel's property/assets.
  • Review of future bookings of room nights and banquet sales, early identification of weak periods, implementing yield management practices.
  • Regular review of sales solicitation activities, room nights productivity and group room rates sold by the sales department. Regularly review individual productivity and guiding as needed. Evaluate market mix and take action in order to best position the hotel for increased business. Involvement in sales solicitation of key accounts by reviewing contracts, meeting with sales department, visit key account contacts in person and by phone.
  • Through leadership and example, establish a friendly, courteous, service-oriented approach to guests that is exhibited by all hotel employees.
  • Review and ensure outstanding guest service standards for all departments. Monitor and take necessary action to ensure high regional and brand GSS scores.
  • Assure that all Company policies and procedures are fully implemented throughout the hotel.

    Job Requirements:

Must have advanced knowledge in the following areas:
 

  • Revenue/Yield Management preferably with the Marriott/FOSSE systems.
  • Sales and Marketing – Be able to lead a successful sales effort that leads to achieving financial budgets.
  • Hotel accounting principles.
  • Food and beverage operations including catering/restaurant and lounge revenue centers.
  • Hotel maintenance and repair/ hotel housekeeping and general cleaning.
  • Personnel management.
  • Front office operations.
     

Skills and Abilities:
 

Plan financial strategies, effective communication, direct others at various professional levels, identity and solve problems, prioritize and coordinate multiple projects at one time, evaluate and resolve complex situations, lead the staff of the hotel utilizing a management style of participative team approach, be a self-starter, be proficient in Microsoft Office programs, have the ability to meet and greet guests and employees and be the face of the hotel in the community, have a keen eye for detail.
 

 

This is a HANDS-ON position and the General Manager is expected to be on-site and work a flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, weekends and Holidays.
