What you'll do

Basic Function:

FOH Manager/Dining Room Manager will be responsible to ensure the highest of quality of customer service is achieved during operational hours. Ensuring that all servers, expos, and FOH staff are working together as a team and are completing daily, weekly and monthly tasks. FOH Manager/Dining Room Manager will not only maintain the highest quality of customer service, cleanliness, punctuality of service but will also ensure meals are at the standards set by the Dietary Director. FOH Manager/Dining Room Manager will not only oversee the dining room service experience but will also be expected to step in for all server, expo, host and dishwasher responsibilities.

Essential Functions:

  • Help dining and kitchen staff as needed during service, ensuring all dietary staff has what they need to complete a flawless service.
  • Helps train all new servers, expos, hosts, food runners, & dishwashers in their daily, weekly, & monthly tasks to ensure full satisfaction is met.
  • Assures that food and non-food items are stored correctly and up to health/State department standards. Communicates and dedicates time to train new and existing staff in any new and current procedures to ensure the highest quality.
  • Works alongside the Dietary Director in training procedures, sanitation standards, service standards, and all other expected procedures in the department.
  • Daily inspections of areas of the dining room, cafe area, and kitchen for cleanliness, supplies, and other needs that might need attention.
  • Will lead and train new staff in proper handwashing and other sanitary work practices that prevent food contamination and food-borne illness.
  • Observes the department for fire and safety hazards and corrects or reports problems to the Dietary Director, Maintenance Department, or Executive Director.
  • Attends mandatory in-service education programs and staff meetings that applies to job duties. Makes regular inspections of work, storage, and serving areas to determine compliance with dining regulations, sanitation standards, safety precautions, and proper storage and handling procedures.
  • Maintains sound & friendly customer service principles to respond to and adequately resolve complaints and/or concerns of residents and guests in the dining room or out of the dining room.
  • Maintains a safe and fair environment for all dietary staff when issues arise before, during and after service.
  • Will report any service, food, procedures, employee conflicts etc. to the Dietary Director with a clear and non-biased judgement to work together to find a solution for all involved with little to no distraction to the department or the residents of The Reserve at Hamilton Trace.
  • Having completed all pre-hire paperwork, completed all required Human Resource requirements that are dealt with but not limited to the culture, beliefs and values that CarDon & Associates is looking for in a manager.
  • Assist Executive Chef in maintaining the highest of hygiene standards & enforcement of uniform policy.

Our ideal candidate

Education, Qualifications, Credentials:

  • 3 years minimum of sit-down restaurant experience
  • 1 year experience of Assistant/FOH manager/ Lead server experience (Preferred but not required)
  • ServSafe certification or able to retain one in the next 6 months of hire date

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

Can read, write in the English language and make simple mathematical calculations that the position may require. The ability to understand and carry out instructions that are provided in written, oral or diagram form. Possesses well developed communication and interpersonal skills. Has the ability to get along well with diverse personalities; is tactful, mature and flexible in uncomfortable situations. Ability to establish credibility and empower supporting members of the dietary staff. Willingness to be flexible in the middle of service of any communicational breakdown, staff shortage, equipment problems, menu item(s) shortage, etc. of events that come with working in a restaurant environment.

Special Requirements:

Must have a valid Indiana Operator's License. Maintains good attendance and attends any meetings or training that is job focus. Must have an active and up to date device(s) to communicate with all managed dietary staff & direct supervisors.
