Job SummaryThe Culinary Director of Student Engagement at George Mason University is an exciting opportunity for an energetic, entrepreneurial manager who is constantly seeking a better way to conduct business. This key leadership position will serve as the connector between student groups, academic institutes and administrative offices to curate a program that authentically celebrates and honors George Mason University. This unique role will work with GMU to explore and curate innovative programming that complements and enhances current campus programs. Key Responsibilities:
Collaborates with the Senior Executive Chef on the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the account.
Liaise between the client, student groups, academic institute and administrative office under the supervision of the Sr. Executive Chef
Utilize company systems.
Working with the location culinary leaders, provides resources Oversees and participates in the preparation and service of food and beverage items in adherence to company food standards for preparation, presentation, sanitation and safety (meeting HACCP and OSHA guidelines) and portion control.
Curate and develop unique programs specifically for the account in partnership with marketing and the Senior Executive Chef.
Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications:
B.S. Degree in Food Services Technology/Management or related field; or A.A. Degree plus four years of directly related experience preferred.
Five+ years of direct foodservice operational management experience.
Strong knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation.
Previous contract-managed service experience is desirable.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to communicate on various levels to include management, client, customer and students.
Proficient computer skills to include various computer programs, Microsoft Office programs, e-mail and the Internet.
