OVERVIEW: Riverwards Produce is a group of produce focused markets in Philadelphia
The Front of House Manager position at Riverwards Produce takes ownership of all Front of House department operations, staff, and aesthetics. This role requires a heavy concentration in customer service and creating systems to ensure that cashiers have clear communication about protocol to create the ultimate shopping experience. The FOH Manager has an expert knowledge of store inventory, merchandising tools, and POS operations. They're able to field inquiries and suggestions from both customers and staff. They coordinate frequently with Store Managers, the Grocery and Produce teams to ensure proper staffing, product variance, store cleanliness, and aesthetic coherence.
The Front of House Manager ensures that we are presenting a cohesive aesthetic upon entry and providing top-notch service and product knowledge for our customers.
Reports to: Store Manager
Directly manages: Cashiers and FOH Staff
Responsibilities:
Responsible for overall fiscal performance of department
Maintains up-to-date procedural logs and implements new SOP changes
Creates and conducts training for FOH staff to ensure effective job performance and excellent customer service
Responsible for management and hiring decisions relating to FOH operations including hiring, scheduling, and disciplinary action
Serves as a primary contact for POS technical escalations
Creates and maintains scheduling for all Cashier staff
Provides excellent customer service and has a working knowledge of all store product
Ensures the completion of all opening, mid-shift, and closing procedures
Maintains organized and clear check-out, entry, and receiving spaces
Collaborates with Store Managers to create and maintain processes pertaining to money handling by staff
Coordinates the purchase and procurement for all FOH product categories and supplies
Collaborates with other department managers to plan seasonal and rotating merchandising plans
Executes sales-based purchasing and lean inventory practices
Works with Store & Department managers to ensure that all store items are properly entered into the POS system and available for purchase
Performs floor duties including receiving, restocking, and ordering
Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive
Requirements
Minimum 3 years retail buying and/or managing
Previous management experience in a grocery setting
Experience receiving, processing, and merchandising grocery in a retail setting
Passion for the principles of sustainable food and farming
A diligent approach to safety and sanitation - ServSafe (or analogous) certification a plus
A team player with a willingness to jump in and help with all store tasks
Ability to roll with the punches of a rapidly growing start-up business
Ability to lift 50+ lbs and spend 8+ hours standing and walking up and down stairs
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Detail orientation and ability to communicate easily and often with team and managers
Flexibility in scheduling, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
Experience receiving, processing, and/or merchandising specialty grocery in a retail setting
A positive attitude and an enthusiastic desire to provide storewide customer service
Working knowledge of local food makers
COMPENSATION: This position is full-time. Compensation begins at $22/hr. Riverwards Produce provides a 20% discount on all store products. Benefits include health, dental and medical insurance (for full time employees), paid parental leave, Employee Assistance Program, Paid Time Off, and flexible scheduling.
