Job Summary
We are seeking an Experienced Travel Agent for a temp-to-hire opportunity in Albany, NY. This role is ideal for a travel professional with hands-on travel agency experience, strong sales ability, and a passion for helping clients plan memorable leisure travel experiences.
The Travel Agent will assist customers with booking flights, cruises, hotels, tours, rail, auto travel, and complete itineraries while providing high-quality customer service. This position offers a supportive, customer-focused environment where teamwork, accuracy, product knowledge, and client satisfaction are valued. Key Responsibilities
- Assist clients with leisure travel arrangements by recommending destinations, accommodations, transportation, tours, and events based on interests and budget.
- Make and confirm reservations for airlines, cruises, trains, autos, hotels, and tours while identifying the best available rates and schedules.
- Prepare individual and group travel itineraries, review travel documents, and ensure all client information is accurate and complete.
- Convert travel inquiries into confirmed sales while cross-selling or referring additional travel products and services.
- Maintain organized trip records, accountable travel documents, brochures, travel materials, and office supplies.
- Support daily operational needs, including CRS transactions, account discrepancy resolution, corporate travel assistance, and rotating service center coverage.
Compensation and Benefits
- Pay: $21 to $23 per hour plus commission.
- Job Type: Contract/Temporary, temp-to-hire opportunity.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, various shifts between 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM.
- Saturday schedule: 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
- Occasional after-hours events may be required.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Assist customers with leisure travel planning, bookings, reservations, and itinerary preparation.
- Sell revenue-generating travel products and services while meeting sales and performance goals.
- Maintain accurate travel documentation, client records, and CRS transactions.
- Provide excellent customer service, resolve questions, and support member satisfaction.
- Must have travel agent experience listed on resume to be considered.
- 1 to 2 years of relevant experience preferred based on role level.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Strong sales skills and the ability to convert travel inquiries into confirmed bookings.
- Knowledge of travel agency operations, procedures, world geography, destinations, and travel policies.
- Prior administrative and customer service experience required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Strong computer and research skills for booking travel, lodging, transportation, and attractions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a client-focused, professional approach.
- Exceptional organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, rotating service center coverage, and occasional after-hours events.
- Ability to work at a computer and sit at a desk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with corporate travel support.
- Experience using computerized reservation systems or CRS platforms.
- Familiarity with cruise, tour, hotel, airline, rail, and auto travel booking processes.
- Ability to represent the organization professionally at travel industry functions, seminars, and FAM trips.
