We strive to make our products remarkable and approachable across all of our locations. We are looking for a Cafe General Manager Candidate to join our team at one of our Philadelphia locations.

The Cafe General Manager position is a collaborative, hands-on role, often working side by side with teammates and management, to bring an exceptional cafe experience to our communities. Cafe General Managers are responsible for leading our teams, overseeing daily operations, and assuring the integrity of our products and brand. This role requires strong leadership skills, financial acumen, organization and the ability to cultivate a positive cafe culture. Our Cafe General Managers can work every role in the cafe.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following -
Leadership & Team Development
- Recruit, train, develop, and onboard a high-performing team
- Foster a positive, team-oriented culture with strong communication and accountability
- Lead by example while working side-by-side with your team
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide regular feedback to staff
Operations & Service Excellence
- Oversee daily cafe operations
- Maintain high service standards, ensuring a consistently excellent guest experience
- Uphold quality assurance standards for all menu items
- Create staff schedule while focusing on labor costs to maximize efficiency
- Ensure smooth coordination between all positions in the cafe
- Manage inventory, ordering, and supplies related to all cafe operations
- Implement and monitor necessary SOPs for the cafe
- Handle guest feedback with professionalism and problem-solving skills
- Build relationships with the community to enhance brand presence
Business Management
- Monitor budgets, sales, and expenses to meet financial goals
- Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive revenue and profitability
- Implement cost-control strategies without compromising quality
- Monitor sales and revenue, and implement strategies to maximize profitability
- Prepare and present reports on sales, labor, and other financial aspects as required
Compliance & Maintenance
- Maintain a clean guest facing environment at all times
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, labor laws, and company policies
- Have or obtain within 90 days after hiring: City of Philadelphia Food Safety Certificate
- Oversee facility upkeep and coordinate with vendors as needed
- Uphold cleanliness and sanitation standards in all FOH & BOH areas
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience as a Cafe Manager or similar leadership role
- A guest-focused mindset with a passion for hospitality
- Comprehensive knowledge of, or strong desire to learn, coffee origins, processes, preparation and brewing techniques
- Ability to coach, mentor, & develop hourly team members
- Knowledge of POS systems and restaurant management software
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and occasional high-stress environment
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills
- Experience with financial management, including P&L oversight and budgeting
- DOH Accreditation and/or ServSafe Certified
Expectations:
- Attend working shifts on time and in accordance with dress code and appearance guidelines
- Ensure all necessary shift coverage
- Master knowledge of products sold in the store
- Availability to work a varied and flexible schedule, including the busiest cafe shifts such as early mornings, weekends, and holidays
- Average 45 hours/week
Physical Demands:
- This position will require the employee to periodically lift, push, pull or carry items up to 50 lbs in weight (putting away deliveries of boxes, heavy items such as coffee orders, etc)
- This position requires the employee to stand for extended periods of time
- This position will require the employee to periodically climb stairs, ramps, or uneven surfaces
- This position will require the employee to work with equipment that is hot and/or sharp
