DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supervises staff, oversees food storage and preparation, and supports the daily operations of the Dietary Department to ensure meals are safe, timely, and well prepared. The role maintains standards, coordinates work routines, and upholds policies that guide quality food service. As a Food Service Supervisor, you will perform the following duties:

  • Staff Supervision: Oversee, observe, and guide food service personnel during daily tasks
  • Meal Preparation Oversight: Ensure menu items are prepared correctly, on time, and in the proper amounts
  • Food Storage Management: Verify delivery accuracy, check product rotation, and maintain proper storage practices
  • Sanitation Standards: Monitor cleaning routines and enforce safe housekeeping and sanitation procedures
  • Quality Improvement: Review procedures, collect data, and take action to support departmental improvement goals
  • Work Scheduling: Check staffing levels, reassign duties as needed, and arrange overtime when required

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Work hours are 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM, Sunday - Saturday, with a 30-minute lunch. Your schedule will have rotating on and off duty days, including weekends and holidays.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three years of paid experience in food production and/or service and successful completion of a Certified Dietary Manager course; or
  • Two years as a Food Service Worker (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) and/or production experience, and an Associate degree with major course work in food production and food service; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which consists of experience in an institutional setting preparing specialized therapeutic diets, or course work in food production, food service or a related field.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
