Job Details About Kings Athletic Club

Kings Athletic Club (KAC) is a private athletic club built around hospitality, member experience, and high-performance operations. The club blends racquet sports, swim, fitness, wellness, dining, and social programming in an environment where service is expected to feel personal, polished, and consistent. The team culture is hands-on, collaborative, and accountable to the standards of a premium private club.

Job Summary

The Assistant General Manager is the PM and closing leader for the club and is responsible for overseeing our operation from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM, five days a week. This role supports the General Manager in delivering an exceptional member experience across all day-one amenities, with a particular focus on closing execution, member hospitality, and cafe operations. The Assistant General Manager serves as the leader on duty, makes decisions when the General Manager is off-site, and ensures the club closes smoothly, safely, and to standard.

Leadership Responsibilities
  • Lead with professionalism, urgency, and hospitality.
  • Set the tone for the club during evening hours and ensure a polished member experience.
  • Solve problems quickly and calmly while protecting the member experience.
  • Carry out club standards, policies, and closing procedures consistently.
  • Make sound decisions in the absence of the General Manager.
  • Communicate clearly with the GM and hand off issues, updates, and follow-ups at the end of each shift.
Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the entire club during evening hours, including member-facing service, operational readiness, and closeout.
  • Serve as closing manager on duty every day from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM.
  • Support member hospitality across all day-one amenities.
  • Assist the GM with guest issues, complaints, event support, and general member service recovery.
  • Manage cafe scheduling, inventory, menu execution, cash handling, POS checks, and closing procedures.
  • Support cafe operations without owning purchasing or vendor coordination.
  • Ensure the club is fully closed out at the end of each evening, including proper handoff, cleanliness, security, and readiness for the next day.
  • Maintain strong communication with the GM regarding operational issues, member feedback, and staffing concerns.
Cafe Responsibilities

The Assistant General Manager supports the cafe as part of the broader evening operation. This includes scheduling support, inventory oversight, menu execution, cash handling, POS management, and closing the cafe at night. The role is not responsible for ordering or vendor coordination, but it must ensure the cafe is organized, properly staffed, and operating smoothly during the PM shift.

Member Experience

The Assistant General Manager must be highly visible, approachable, and service-driven. This person should know how to create a warm and professional environment for members, handle issues discreetly, and support events and club programming as needed. The role is responsible for helping maintain a consistent experience across all areas of the club during evening hours.

Reporting Structure

The Assistant General Manager reports directly to the General Manager. This role supports the GM but is also expected to act independently within the scope of evening operations. The AGM should be able to make day-to-day decisions when needed and keep the GM informed of important issues, trends, and follow-ups.

Schedule

This is a full-time evening role with hours from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Nights, weekends, and holidays are required as needed. The position is designed for a leader who is comfortable working until close, managing the energy of the building in the evening, and ensuring the club ends each day at a high standard.
