DUTIES
- Coordinate projects, programs, and service delivery activities that advance the Community Services Departments goals and objectives, including planning and evaluating special projects, procedures, systems, standards, and services.
- Assist in conducting research, gathering and analyzing data, and preparing reports, graphs, charts, and other materials for internal and external meetings.
- Analyze and evaluate programs to identify service gaps and ensure alignment with City Management and Council priorities; implement corrective actions based on identified service gaps to ensure alignment with City priorities and improvement to programs, service delivery, and operations of the department.
- Assist in department planning efforts, initiatives, and program development; foster active coordination and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders including, but not limited to, other governmental entities, non-profit organizations, and community organizations, to strengthen the provision of services to the community.
- Coordinate the administration of community partnerships, programs, and City Council initiated projects including, but not limited to, preservation of housing affordability, creation of homelessness initiatives, crisis mental health programming, and other complex community needs.
- Coordinate the activities of departmental staff in the administration of Federal and State grant programs including, but not limited to, the Community Development Block Grant, Home Investment Partnerships Program, and Emergency Solutions Grant; ensure grant and program use is within regulations and compliance for continued funding and investment into the community.
- Ensure compliance with State and Local codes, regulations and laws including enforcement, technical, financial, and operational activities of code enforcement personnel.
- Serve as staff liaison to the Citys Community Services Advisory Committee; ensure agendas and associated materials, minutes, and meetings are posted and handled appropriately.
- Monitor and evaluate legislative and/or regulatory activity that could have an impact on Community Services within the City of Denton.
- Facilitate interdepartmental team and committee meetings to accomplish tasks, objectives and special projects.
- Manage necessary intra-enterprise functions of the department to ensure smooth operations, including managing financial processes, equipment maintenance, and strategic reporting.
- Select, train, supervise, coach, mentor, and evaluate staff; recommend assignment/assignment change, retention, discipline, and dismissal.
- Develop, manage, and monitor budget and grants; maintain accurate budget reporting; ensure that operations are cost-effective, and funds are managed wisely.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
- Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Public Administration, Planning, or related field; and,
- Five (5) years experience in local government, non-profit administration, business administration, public administration, or related field; and,
- Two (2) years experience in a management or supervisory capacity.
- Any combination of related education, experience, certifications, and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job.

- Must have and maintain a valid Class C Drivers License and valid state required minimum automobile liability insurance prior to employment (must obtain Texas Class C drivers license and state required minimum automobile liability insurance within 90 days of hire per state law).
- Must pass a drug test, drivers license check, criminal history background check, employment history verification, and social security number verification.
- Ensure equipment is in safe operating condition; perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment, as appropriate and/or notify leadership immediately of needed repairs.
- Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting and climbing; operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
- Promptly report unsafe conditions in the work area and/or any conditions that are not immediately correctable to leadership.

- Attendance: Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position. Must be able to work after normal business hours, holidays, and weekends, as needed. Must attend regularly scheduled and special meetings.
