PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Assist manager in all phases of day to day cafeteria operations. General knowledge of reporting procedures, food production records, food ordering processes, inventory management, end of day process and preparing bank deposits. Take responsibility for managing the kitchen in the absence of the cafeteria manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification: High School Diploma or Equivalent Food Handler Certification Must have reliable transportation
Special Knowledge/Skills: Working knowledge of kitchen equipment and methods used in food preparation Must be able to complete food production records Knowledge of computer/cash register operation and procedures of district
Experience: Two-years experience in school food service operations or previous food industry experience
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
1.1 Serve as work leader in the kitchen during daily food preparation, assisting wherever needed.
1.2 Ensure food is produced safely and is of high quality according to policies and procedures.
1.3 Have a complete understanding of meal production and correct serving regulations.
1.4 Assist in enforcing standards of cleanliness, health, and safety following health and safety regulations.
1.5 Provide customers with a positive experience and have great customer service skills.
1.6 Promote teamwork and interaction with fellow staff members.
1.7 Follow policies regarding the reporting of equipment issues and work order requests.
1.8 Assist in the annual physical equipment and supplies inventory.
1.9 Knowledge of all cashier duties and must be able to train other employees.
1.10 Assist Cafeteria Manager in completing end of day paperwork and deposit.
1.11 Exemplify high standards of professional and ethical conduct as described in board policy.
1.12 Attend meetings as designated by the Child Nutrition Director.
1.13 Serve as manager in the absence of the appointed Cafeteria Manager.
1.14 Perform other related duties as assigned by the Cafeteria Manager and Child Nutrition Director.
EQUIPMENT USED:
Uses kitchen equipment including mixer, pressure steamer, ovens, tilt skillet, sharp cutting tools, dish
machine, food and utility carts, mop and broom, computer, and telephone.

Mental Demands:
Understands verbal and written instructions. Maintain emotional control under stress.
Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Continual standing, walking, pushing, and pulling. Frequent stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing (ladder),
lifting off the ground, reaching overhead. Carrying supplies up to 40 lbs. Moderate exposure to extreme hot
and/or cold temperatures. Works with cleaning chemicals.
