Experienced Kitchen Manager Needed

New sports bar focused on delivering great food, cold drinks, and an exceptional game-day experience. As we build our customer base and establish ourselves in the community, we're seeking a hands-on Kitchen Manager who is excited to help shape our kitchen operations from the ground up.

This is a working management position. The Kitchen Manager will oversee all back-of-house operations while actively cooking and working alongside the kitchen team during service. The Kitchen Manager is responsible for the daily operation of the kitchen, including food preparation, cooking, inventory management, food safety compliance, staff supervision, and cost control. Because we are a growing business, the Kitchen Manager will spend a significant portion of their time cooking and supporting service while helping develop efficient systems for long-term success.

Key Responsibilities

Kitchen Operations
Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes and quality standards.
Lead daily kitchen operations during lunch, dinner, game-day, and special event service.
Ensure food quality, consistency, presentation, and portion control.
Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment.
Leadership & Team Development
Recruit, train, and mentor kitchen staff.
Create schedules based on business volume and labor targets.
Foster a positive, professional, and team-oriented culture.
Lead by example through active participation in food preparation and service.
Inventory & Cost Management
Manage food ordering and vendor relationships.
Monitor inventory levels and conduct regular inventory counts.
Control food costs, waste, and labor expenses.
Develop systems to maximize profitability while maintaining quality.
Food Safety & Compliance
Ensure compliance with all local health department regulations.
Maintain food safety and sanitation standards.
Train staff on proper food handling procedures.
Keep all required records and certifications current.

3+ years of kitchen management, sous chef, or lead cook experience.
Experience in a sports bar, casual dining, pub, or high-volume kitchen preferred.
Strong cooking skills and willingness to work on the line daily.
Knowledge of food safety regulations and kitchen best practices.
Experience with inventory management, ordering, and food cost control.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.
ServSafe Manager Certification (or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe) preferred.
