Restaurant Assistant Manager The Old Dock Waterfront Restaurant

Reports To: General Manager / Restaurant Manager

Position Summary
The Assistant Manager supports the daily operations of a fast-paced waterfront restaurant under new management and a new menu, ensuring exceptional guest service, smooth dockside coordination, and efficient front- and back-of-house performance. This role assists with staff supervision, customer satisfaction, inventory management, scheduling, and maintaining a welcoming dining atmosphere for guests, boaters, tourists, regulars and local patrons.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in overseeing daily restaurant operations, including dining room, inside and outside bar, patio areas
Supervise and support servers, bartenders, hosts, dock attendants during shifts
Ensure excellent customer service and promptly resolve guest concerns or complaints
Coordinate dockside dining
Assist with employee scheduling, training, onboarding, and performance management
Monitor food quality, cleanliness, safety, and sanitation standards
Support inventory control, ordering, and vendor coordination
Help manage cash handling, Toast POS system, and end-of-day reporting
Ensure compliance with health regulations, liquor laws, and company policies
Step into leadership role during manager absences
Maintain a positive, team-oriented work environment
Qualifications
2+ years of restaurant or hospitality supervisory experience preferred
Experience in waterfront and high-volume dining environments is a plus
Strong leadership, communication, and customer service skills
Ability to multitask and remain organized in a fast-paced setting
Knowledge of restaurant POS systems and scheduling software
Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Ability to stand for extended periods and occasionally lift up to 40 lbs.
Preferred Skills
Bartending or alcohol service certification
Experience managing seasonal staff
Conflict resolution and team-building abilities
