About the Job
The Clinical Operations Performance Manager is a strategic leadership role within the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) focused on driving performance improvement and operational excellence. This position is responsible for establishing programs and processes that optimize efficiency and effectiveness of clinical operations across service and teaching missions. Key objectives include developing robust Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to manage Veterinary Medical Center (VMC) caseload, revenue, and workflow. The Manager will collaborate with various CVM leaders to define clinical standards with an emphasis on equity and consistency, while providing critical reporting to senior leadership to support horizon scanning and strategic planning for the college's tripartite mission.
Responsibilities
Performance Improvement & Process Management (40%)
- Establish and refine programs and processes to optimize operational efficiency and effectiveness of clinical operations in both service delivery and teaching environments.
- Identify operational bottlenecks and implement workflow improvements to maximize clinical efficiency and educational quality.
- Partner with clinical services to ensure consistency in scheduling and service delivery models.
KPI Development & Data Analysis (25%)
- Create and manage a comprehensive suite of KPIs for the VMC, focusing on caseload volume, revenue generation, and operational workflow.
- Develop automated reporting tools and dashboards for Directors, Chairs, and the Associate Dean to monitor real-time clinical performance.
- Utilize data to perform "horizon scanning" to identify future trends, risks, and opportunities for the clinical enterprise.
Clinical Definition & Service Level Initiatives (20%)
- Lead the development of standardized clinical definitions to ensure consistent service levels and transparency across speciality veterinary services.
- Ensure that clinical expectations and faculty assignments are applied consistently, supporting a fair and inclusive workplace culture.
- Act as a liaison between clinical leadership and faculty to align operational goals with equity standards.
Strategic Leadership & Support (10%)
- Work closely with the Associate Dean of Clinical Affairs and Department Chairs to align clinical operations with the college's tripartite mission (teaching, research, and service).
- Provide analytical support for strategic initiatives and long-term planning for the VMC and CVM.
Other duties as assigned (5%)
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Veterinary Management, or a related field with at least 4 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with at least 2 years of experience.
- Demonstrated experience in teaching hospital administration (Human or Animal Health).
- Strong background in Quality Assurance (QA) and performance improvement methodologies.
- Proven expertise in developing complex reports, data modeling, and creating metrics for managing organizational performance.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in a professional setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA, MHA, or equivalent professional business qualification.
- Experience in higher education or academic medical center environments.
- Advanced proficiency with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI) and Hospital Information Systems (HIS).
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and build consensus among academic and clinical stakeholders.

Pay and Benefits
Pay Range: $55,000 - $110,000; (prorated based on FTE; based on $110,000-$150,000 at 1.0 FTE), depending on education/qualifications/experience
Time Appointment: 50% - 74% Appointment
