For the Deli Manager, this means leading the Deli department and promoting the values and standards of Adams Fairacre Farms and it’s dedication to the unique customer experience.

Your Day-to-Day

  • Ensure outstanding customer service by greeting and assisting customers, maintaining high standards, and sharing solid product knowledge.
  • Achieve profit margin, payroll, and expense goals while controlling shrink, waste, and production levels.
  • Maintain proper stock levels, rotate product for freshness, and ensure appealing displays with correct signage and pricing.
  • Order products, check deliveries for quality and quantity, and call in orders to distributors as needed.
  • Schedule, supervise, and train department staff; develop an assistant and monitor scheduling coverage.
  • Train and educate staff on product handling, rotation, and proper display techniques to meet health and safety standards.
  • Conduct interviews, handle disciplinary discussions, and help employees grow by setting clear goals that align with company objectives.
  • Address customer complaints to ensure satisfaction and protect the store’s reputation.
  • Handle unexpected issues like call-outs, conflicts, and inventory problems quickly and effectively.
  • Set the tone for employee morale through positive leadership, clear communication, and regular praise.
  • Assign tasks, rotate responsibilities, and delegate work to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Support store management with daily operations and overall store goals.
  • Manage inventory and purchasing to meet customer needs and reduce waste.
  • Check in with each team member during overlapping shifts to ensure clear communication and address any concerns.
  • Review department reports to track performance and support decision-making.
  • Keep accurate and organized records to support smooth operations and compliance.
  • Conduct interviews, handle employee concerns or corrections privately, and lead performance evaluations.
  • Help with all department tasks to keep operations running smoothly.
  • Handle customer orders, assist with food prep when needed, and answer phone calls professionally.

What you bring to the Farm

  • Decision making skills on behalf of the Deli Department
  • Full knowledge on all operations of the Deli; 5 years of Deli experience & 3-5 years of managerial experience
  • Deli professional leadership experience
  • Awareness and driving support office initiatives
  • Windows programs and communication tools
  • Work collaboratively, communicate well, and lead a team of co-workers alongside store management
  • Exhibit enthusiasm, positivity and/or knowledge about Adams’ products and quality
  • Ability to demonstrate, encourage, and set the example of Adams’ culture and value
  • Experience gained through growth and leadership within Adams may also be considered, provided the candidate can demonstrate proven ability to lead teams, support daily Deli operations, and uphold Adams’ standards for quality and service.

Working Conditions

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Consistently move, adjust, and position items weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for duration of shift
  • Occasionally ascend/descend a stepstool, stepladder, and/or ladder
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers for duration of shift
  • Communicate with others to exchange information
  • Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces

The salary range for this position takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions – including skill sets, experience, training, certifications and other business needs. A reasonable estimate of the current range is: $24.00 - $30.00. At Adams, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their position, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each situation.
