The Sonnenalp is hiring a Food & Beverage Manager in Training (MIT). This role will be posted until August 31st or until filled.
Wage: $21.00/hr
Primary Purpose of Position
The Sonnenalp Hotel is looking for a Manager in Training (MIT) to complete a one-year program in Food & Beverage. MITs will receive on-the-job training in order to grow them into future managers at the Sonnenalp Hotel. This position will be exposed to various operations through rotations, shadowing, and structured training in either a Hotel or Food & Beverage capacity.
Program Structure
Phase I
This phase focuses on the MITs transition and assimilation into the company. They will learn about the culture of the Sonnenalp, the operational goals, management philosophies, and interdepartmental cooperation. They will be assigned their mentors, who will support them throughout the program. During this time, a detailed training plan will be provided.

Phase II
This phase will focus on the MITs on-the-job management training. The MIT will focus on developing their supervisory skills, key relationships, and building their knowledge base.
- Attending management meetings
- Learning the roles and responsibilities of Department Heads
- Networking with SLT members
Phase III
This phase will focus on brining the MIT to the next level in their management skills. MITs will learn the necessary skills to move into their next role and develop into an exceptional leader.
- General Administration & financial planning
- Developing a career plan with mentor
- Defining an operational challenge and completing a project to recommend a viable solution
Education/Experience
- Degree in Hospitality or Restaurant Management preferred
Special Skills/Equipment
- TIPS certification helpful
- Excellent customer service and problem solving skills
- Strong wine and liquor knowledge
- Strong computer skills required
- Strong organizational skills required
- Experience with Squirrel POS and Open Table preferred
Essential Physical Requirements
- Required to work evenings, holidays and weekends, sometimes in excess of 40 hours per week
- Job requires standing or walking for the full duration of the shift.
