Position Overview:
The Housekeeping Supervisor will report to the Housekeeping Manager and will be asked to perform a variety of managerial functions. The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for supervision, coaching and training of room and house attendants. Our Housekeeping Supervisors ensure that all work is performed up to the standards set forth by the department and Hotel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Overseeing a number of critical tasks such as keeping the staff on schedule, inspecting and approving public areas and guest rooms for cleanliness, ensuring timely turnover of checkout rooms and interacting with hotel guests in a polite and positive manner.
- Serving as team lead for the entire housekeeping staff including assigning and reviewing work.
- Maintain high-quality cleaning standards.
- Provide exceptional customer service and lead staff to do the same.
- Respond to customer complaints quickly and resolve them effectively.
- Develop strategies for improving guest experience.
- Communicate and coordinate with Engineering to ensure efficient maintenance and repair of items related to guest rooms and public areas.
- Are reliable, organized, and comfortable managing a physically active role.
- Ability to supervise subordinate staff, including, but not limited to, assignment of duties, evaluating service and taking disciplinary action when necessary.
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to provide clear directions to the staff.
- Observe performance and encourage improvement where necessary.
- Perform guest room cleaning duties in cases of room attendant’s shortage.
Position Requirements :
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with other departments.
- The ability to motivate and inspire others to work cooperatively to achieve a designated goal.
- The ability to maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent Hotel data.
- The ability to communicate effectively in English with guests, managers, and colleagues.
- Listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of the department.
- Knowledge of overall hotel operations as they affect the department preferred.
- Possess a proven track record of effectively and empathetically training, mentoring, and managing hourly employees.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill necessary tasks.
- Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 30lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
- Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours in length.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years Housekeeping experience.
- Able to communicate in English.
- Demonstrate natural leadership qualities with a positive, team-focused attitude.
- Prior experience in a luxury hotel preferred
Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules (including Holidays and weekends) to reflect the business needs of the hotel.
Wage Rate: $33.62 per hour
