Sodexo is seeking a Chef Manager to join our dynamic team at Yale New Haven Hospital, York Street Campus .

Yale New Haven Hospita l is a non-profit, 1,541-bed acute and tertiary medical center receiving regional, national and international referrals. It provides comprehensive, multidisciplinary, family-focused care in more than 100 medical specialty areas and has ranked among the best by U.S. News & World Report in specialties such as diabetes and endocrinology; geriatrics; gynecology; pulmonology; ear, nose and throat; neurology and neurosurgery; and psychiatry. With two inpatient campuses in New Haven, Yale New Haven Hospital is the primary teaching hospital for Yale School of Medicine.

This Chef Manager is high-profile role that reports directly to the Executive Chef 4 and oversees a team of approximately 20 union frontline staff. We're looking for a hands-on culinary leader with a strong background in hospital and union environments (1199 union experience preferred). This position is also responsible for facilities and sanitation oversight, as well as evening supervision of food production and tray line operations.

What You'll Do:
  • Lead day-to-day food service operations with a focus on culinary excellence, food safety, and customer satisfaction

  • Supervise, schedule, and support a unionized frontline team, including coaching, development, hiring, and disciplinary processes

  • Design and execute retail menus and promotional strategies that enhance customer experience and drive sales

  • Manage cash handling processes and maintain financial accountability

  • Ensure full compliance with HACCP guidelines, Sodexo standards, and local/state regulatory requirements

  • Provide leadership for evening food production, tray line operations, sanitation, and facilities management

  • Partner with hospital leadership and maintain strong client and customer relationships

  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and collaborative team culture

What You Bring:
  • Proven experience in a Chef Manager or similar culinary leadership role

  • Strong background working in unionized environments (1199 union experience preferred)

  • Exceptional culinary skills with a focus on high-end menu development

  • Experience managing sanitation, facilities, and healthcare food service production

  • Ability to lead and inspire a team while maintaining a positive and professional environment

  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

  • ServSafe certification preferred
