Job Description

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic general manager who is passionate about hospitality.  The general manager holds one of the most important roles in the hotel.  They lead, inspire, and motivate their team, they develop trust and loyalty with their guests, and they run an efficient and profitable property.  If you are a hands-on leader who is focused on maintaining customer-driven operations, empowering hotel staff to excel in superior customer care, and managing profitability and revenue generation then this may be the job you have been looking for.

 

Job Description

Overall

Oversees all operations of the hotel including front office, housekeeping, breakfast, maintenance, night audit, guest satisfaction, and sales

Inspects guest rooms, public access areas, and grounds for cleanliness, appearance, and safety

Administers policies and procedures for protecting the safety of guests and employees

Prepares all requested and required reports for the owners

Maintains a high personal visibility throughout the property and throughout the community

Adheres to all Best Western, company, local, state, and federal policies, procedures, and laws

Has a strong attention to detail.

Revenue, Sales, and Profitability

Strong understanding of revenue management and sales. 

Sets yearly goals and tracks performance throughout the year

Creates new programs in response to market conditions and revenue opportunities

Protects the hotel’s financial assets by administering policies and procedures for handling cash, credit cards, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and other financial transactions.  

Works closely with the sales manager, actively discussing key accounts and continuously planning for future business needs

Continually focuses on achieving hotel profitability through revenue generation, cost control, guest satisfaction, and employee satisfaction

 

Employees

Recruits, hires, and trains quality individuals who want to deliver superior customer service

Ensures staffing levels are appropriate for business levels and assist with covering shifts as needed to control costs and alleviate overtime.

Ability to build a strong team and hold others accountable for outstanding results

 

Community

Participates in appropriate industry related community and state organizations and activities

 

Physical Requirements 

Long hours sometimes required

Sitting, walking, or standing for long periods of time.

Light lifting or carrying

 

Other duties as needed to create superior customer care for the guests and staff

 

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Hotel or business management or the equivalent combination of education and experience

Minimum of 5 years of experience in the hotel industry

Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a GM or AGM with a solid track record

Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills

Excellent decision making and analytical skills

Knowledge of a variety of computer software applications

 

Salary is commensurate with experience
