Description:
1. Responsible for the catering effort to achieve catering sales Budget (Group and Local Catering. 2. Plans, coordinates and oversees convention groups and catering events from start to finish. Ensures conference is covered either personally or through staff while conference is in hotel. (To include weekends, evenings, and holidays) 3. Responsible to be in attendance at all high profile events to meet planner, and observe plating of event. (To include weekends, evenings, and holidays) 4. Responsible for communicating and following through with hotel management to ensure that the sales commitment is being fulfilled. Distributes communications (resumes, banquet event orders, agendas, VIP forms, and etc.) detailing the needs of the customer and the sales commitment. 5. Maintains effective relationship with Sales and Operations staff, as well as, all department heads. Communicates constantly with departments, staff, group contacts and etc. 6. Responsible to maintain accurate group numbers in Delphi to attain an accurate group forecast report. As group numbers fluctuate the DOC and convention service department will update the "netted" numbers in Delphi. 7. Responsible for maximizing revenues associated with meetings, maximizes function spaces and attends daily RevMax meetings. 8. Maintains proper communication between groups, hotel staff and outside vendors. Promotes repeat business through customer service and relation building with clients. Identifies and communicates the needs of the group to the appropriate hotel departments. 9. Maintains up to date files, traces, account information, and etc. 10. Determine financial and operation objectives for the department(s); assist in developing the budget and business plan; analyze profit and loss statements by comparing actual with forecasted performance to determine area's effectiveness and efficiency; develops weekly and monthly forecasts, miscellaneous month end reports, quarterly bonus reports, and other reports as needed. 11. Anticipates problems and has solutions; offers suggestions for meal set ups, room layouts, and etc. 12. Make personnel decisions (Hire, fire, promote, adjust salary and etc.); instruct new employees; observe and evaluate job performance of subordinates to provide feedback; develop/utilize tools to promote programs to improve productivity, safety, profitability and etc. 13. Recommend and administer all company policies and procedures notify hotel management of problems needing immediate attention such as serious customer complaints, policy violations, safety concerns, cash shortages. 14. Monitor effectiveness of Convention Service Staff through tracing and monitoring of the Meeting Planner Survey. 15. Monitor and check the quality of customer service in the lounge, dining and banquet areas; resolve complaints and evaluate patterns or trends in customer complaints in order to plan corrective actions. 16. Perform all other duties as assigned.

This is a guest service position, which works with other servers, attendants, kitchen staff, and sales/catering staff to provide friendly, courteous service in the hotel's meeting and banquet functions. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / TYPICAL EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED: This list is not comprehensive, but indicates duties and responsibilities which may be redefined pursuant to operational needs) 1. Determine the number of tables need to set up function and proper set up of room; set-up room according to specifications; set tables by arranging place settings in accordance with prescribed procedures; set out chafing dishes, heat lamps, signs and easels and self-serve utensils; check and refill serving dispensers such as coffee/tea pots and condiment containers 2. Inspect glassware/china and silverware for cleanliness before using or storing; visually inspect equipment, fixtures, floors, etc. in assigned work areas to insure clean appearance and/or sanitary conditions 3. Carry containers and trays of food to and from work and storage areas; deliver food and beverages, and give 100% guests satisfaction in every circumstance 4. Prepare hot beverages such as coffee , tea, and coffee; serve both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to customers       5. Observe and/or ask customers about their needs and levels of satisfaction with the food or service; answer questions about menu items, buffet, etc.; resolve complaints about poor food preparation, slow service, rudeness, etc.; notify customers of problems in a manner that maintains customer satisfaction; talk with customers in order to create a friendly atmosphere 6. Inspect food before it is served to insure that quality standards for preparation and appearance are met; advise other employees (ie manager, cook) of delays in food preparation; notify responsible employee if a prepared food item fails to meet quality standard 7. Discuss operational problems and shortages or other problems with manager and/or supervisor 8. Remove dishes, glasses, etc. from tables; clean and polish stainless steel equipment and fixtures; pick up litter or trash from public areas; perform clean-up tasks to insure cleanliness and sanitation standards are met 9. Follow all company policies, and procedures; assure compliance to all company standards 10. Coordinate the activities of other employees by assigning work in a way that insures prompt and courteous service to customers; check behind other employees on clean-up tasks to ensure standards are met; inspect rooms to verify proper set-up for room function 11. Take incoming phone calls and relay messages as necessary 12. Operate HSI System; accept customer payments by taking cash, checks, or charges, and counting out appropriate change if necessary 13. Perform all other duties as assigned WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: 1. Reports directly to the Banquet Manager 2. Supervises and oversees Banquet staff 3. Must maintain a good working relationship with other departments, employees, and guests 3. Interfaces daily with the public WORKING CONDITIONS: - Standing and walking for long hours. - Lifting up to 50 lb. - Repetitive bending and reaching. - Normal Temperatures with the exception of working inside of a cooler in some cases. Minimum 1 year experience in a guest service position in a restaurant/banquet atmosphere with supervisory experience. Ability to perform a task with minimal direction or supervision. Must be able to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis. Ability to communicate effectively with the public and other team members on a continuous basis. Ability to divide attention among several tasks at one time.
