 Salary Assistant Manager position is the first line of management and is either staffed by internal promotions or outside candidates with one to three years of management experience, preferably from restaurant or customer service environment. The AM is responsible for managing the daily operations of a single restaurant in accordance with Bremer Restaurant Management (BRM) Quality, Service Cleanliness and Profit (QSCP) standards as defined by the Operations Manual (OPS), for an assigned shift or in the absence of the General Manager (GM)). The AM supervises a staff of 2-20 crewmembers per shift and a total roster level of 20-35+ crewmembers in a single restaurant. An incumbent in this position is expected to work well under pressure and with a heavy workload in a variety of schedules to include nights, weekends and holidays.   A typical workweek is 5 days, 9 to 10 hour shifts with a total of 47 to 50 hours for the week.  Knowledge and skill requirements Total Customer Service Is fully aware of the customers needs and ensures they receive a quality meal in clean surroundings with excellent service. Possesses extremely high standards for quality, service and cleanliness (QSC) and monitors performance against those standards. Presents a positive image through professional appearance of self and crewmembers. Consistently seeks to improve the customer’s experience through proactive interaction with the customers. Demonstrates and emphasizes the importance of a positive customer experience. Uses customer feedback tools and techniques in making decisions and improving restaurant performance. Team Leadership Supervises crewmembers and efficiently coordinates their work. Delegates tasks to the most appropriate crewmember. Is able to remain in control during difficult situations. Ability to work well with other managers and help them out when needed. Provides clear direction and authority. Gets involved in a “hands-on” manner and leads by example. Is assertive. Demonstrates principled leadership and sound business ethics while standing up for what’s right. Celebrates achievements, recognizes and rewards others and generates pride and commitment. Regularly coaches crewmembers to drive performance against objectives and provides ongoing and constructive feedback. Demonstrates passion, enthusiasm and intensity in work and is a role model. Business Savvy Identifies problems quickly, assertively develops and implements solutions and manages restaurant flow to ensure customer satisfaction. Focuses the team on critical business issues; plans, organizes and delegates work for peak efficiency. Ensures understanding and use of available business tools by appropriate team members. Accurately analysis financial data; identifies trends and takes appropriate action; follows up to ensure 100% implementation. Team Development Identifies appropriate staff development needs and action plans and ensures time is available for crew development. Is tenacious in ensuring that all employees receive the opportunity to learn and demonstrate new skills. Transfers own knowledge to others by clearly demonstrating procedures, maintaining high standards, and “walking the talk”. Provides resources for development, follows up and gives positive, direct feedback. Provides ongoing coaching and feedback as well as periodic formal assessment of progress. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS · If internal promote they must have completed SM training requirements · High School diploma or GED · Outside promote must have 1 to 3 years supervisory experience in either food service or retail environment · Demonstrated ability to drive customer satisfaction, financial performance and employee satisfaction. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES Operations · Maintain Taco John’s and Bremer Restaurant Management (BRM) standards, on an assigned shift, through the use of operations systems as evaluated through General Manager (GM and District Manager.  · Identify, evaluate and improve upon assigned shift operations. · Maximize sales through the proper implementation of national and local marketing programs. · Comply with all Food Safety codes and regulations. Including equipment, facility and personal sanitation. · Comply with all BRM labor guidelines and Federal and State labor laws to include management of hours and minor tracking. · Prepare and complete required shift related administrative duties as well as any weekly or period administrative duties. · Select, orientate, train, evaluate, counsel and terminate hourly personnel · Create and maintain a positive work environment during assigned shift and work with management team to promote an overall positive work environment for the hourly personnel and restaurant. · Work with management team and Human Resources (HR) to ensure that all Bremer Restaurant Management (BRM) policies and State and Federal regulations are followed. · Utilize all in-restaurant communication such as, manager meetings, employee “rap sessions”, e-mail, voice mail and manager logs are used to improve teamwork and operations. Financial · Work with management team and crewmembers to maximize sales and profit during assigned shifts and to obtain sales and profit budgets for each period. · Maintains shift responsibility for cash procedures such as bank deposits, making change, opening/closing safe and balancing of cash at the end of shift. · Monitor labor throughout assigned shift to ensure customer satisfaction and balancing of actual hours Vs allowed hours. · Has a basic working knowledge of Profit & Loss Statements (P&L’s).
